About the event
Get ready for an exciting birdwatching adventure! Just beyond the ball fields, track, and the lush eutrophic holding pond, you'll discover a vibrant berm system surrounding two incredibly productive water reclamation ponds. These ponds are a winter haven for Green-winged Teal, Lesser Scaup, and the elusive American Bittern. Keep your eyes peeled year-round for the majestic Bald Eagle, the agile Short-tailed Hawk, and the graceful Ospreys. Between spring and fall, you can also spot the elegant Swallow-tailed Kites soaring through the skies. The native plantings around these ponds are a magnet for a delightful variety of songbirds, including over 20 species of wood-warblers like the charming Canada and Nashville. During winter, Painted Buntings add a splash of color, along with sparrows such as the Grasshopper and Swamp. This site is a treasure trove for rarities, with recent sightings of the Eurasian Wigeon, Swainson’s Hawk, Western Kingbird, and Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. Join…
